Hello, a part of my large old silver molar filling fell out, dentist said very deep filling. He drilled out the remaining filling and replaced it with new silver one. He placed orange meds under filling also. Long story short I had no pain or sensitivity before procedure but now that numb meds wore off I am in constant pain, of course sensitive to liquids but hurts all the time regardless. I took otc pain meds but not really helping.

  • Hi!! Some pain after dental filling is normal. It takes 2-3 days for filling to settle. But,if pain  occurs immediately or after a day or two after the filling then  there  is a possibility that the filling is high. In that case the selective grinding will serve the purpose but if the pain persists then it may be because of the deep cavity which is causing pain in the tooth. The treatment for this is to remove the filing and treat the tooth .If required, ask your dentist to take an x-ray,perform root canal treatment and give a crown.
