My wife had zirconium crowns placed on 19 and 14 45 days ago. Now a new dentist says both have infection that is causing the pain. The dentist super cooled a long Q-tip and found that this caused her pain. Would a super cooled Q-tip cause pain on any healthy tooth? The reccomendation is root canals through shatterable crowns. Can the crowns be removed and therefore saved? Does sensitivity to cold automatically mean root canal? Xrays were also assessed.

  • Yes, the cold sensation can cause pain in the healthy tooth but the duration and intensity is different in infected tooth and the healthy tooth. These methods are used to find out the vitality of the teeth. It is difficult to remove the crown as whole and save the crown. Normally the dentist section the crown and remove it.
