I recently switched the dentist that my children go to. My old dentist used to scrape my kids' teeth, but this new one just does the polish and fluoride treatment. Is it normal to not have your teeth scraped during a cleaning?

  • Teeth are scraped during scaling if plaque deposition is there. In case of children if the brushing is proper and the teeth are well aligned then tha chances of plaque deposition or staining is quite less. In such cases polishing and fluoride application is sufficient. You can discuss with your dentist and if need is there then the dentist will do scrapping also during scaling.
