After my molar being prepped for a bridge that was never done it has become very short and painful from time to time. Now after some swelling this Saturday evening I went to the ER and was given antibiotics and pain killers but the swelling as just increased. How long should I allow the antibiotics to work before I go to the dentist? I'm supposed to leave the state this week for work and I'm not sure how to go about this considering no one is open today.

  • the molar if it is used as an abutment to give support to the bridge is painful that means it is infected and it has to be root canal treated. If it is already root canal treated then may be retreatment has to be done.. Normally after taking antibiotics for three days you can get the treatment done. It is better you visit the dentist as soon as possible.
