Had my infected molar extracted two days ago. I still have a numbness in the tip of my tongue. I am taking antibiotics for the infection. I have a bad taste in my mouth. But the worst thing of all is when I chew my food it turns slimy and mushy. A very strange texture I've never had before. Almost tastes like metal. What is going on?? And how can I get rid of the problem??

  • As the tooth was infected, it looks like the socket is still infected and that is why you are having metallic taste in mouth. As you are already taking antibiotics, this extraction socket will heal within a week to 10 days but you have to maintain good oral hygiene by doing warm saline rinses 2-3 times a day and following all instructions given by your dentist so that secondary infection does not take place. for more info on do's and dont's after tooth extraction you can read this article... http://www.identalhub.com/article_do's-and-don'ts-after-tooth-extraction-153.aspx
