When I was in TN appoximately 6 weeks ago I had a root canal done on #30 molar. They removed the cap to do the root canal and after they were done they put the cap back on. I have had root canal work before and after they are done over time the temp filling wears away, but since they recapped this tooth there is no temp filling wearing away. I am 84 years old and would like to know if I leave it capped will I be ok. I was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis two years ago. please give me some advice on this.

  • Normally whenever the root canal treatment is done the tooth is capped but before that the temporary filling is replaced by the permanent one. In your case if the tooth is retreated and the tooth is again capped then it is fine as the filling is not coming directly in contact with the oral cavity so it will not wear away.
