I probably have a common problem. My upper tooth gets an ache when I drink hot or cold liquids. The pain quickly goes away. Is this a root canal problem? It's Sept 25, Can I wait until January when I get a better dental health plan? Thanks Jay

  • Hot n cold sensation can be due to decayed tooth or it can be due to some gum problem. If it is due to decayed tooth then you have to get the treatment done now as the decay can increase and cause the complication. From your symptoms it looks like that it need not be root canal as the pain subside as soon as the stimuli is removed so you can go to the dentist and find out if the tooth can be restored by simple restoration. If it is gum problem then you have to maintain good oral hygeine and find out the extent of the problem. for more info on tooth sensitivity you can visit the following link.....http://www.identalhub.com/article_understanding-hypersenstivity-216.aspx
