I have swollen gums behind my very back molar with swollen neck glands. My tooth does not hurt at all, even if it is tapped on. The swollen area does not hurt unless pressure is applied to it. I am wondering if it is just irriated gums or if it is an abscess.

  • If the neck glands are also swollen then that means infection is there. It can be either due to infection in gums or tooth. Sometimes if the infection is chronic then the tooth does not hurt but that does not mean that tooth is not infected. So go to your dentist and get xrays done and find out the cause. This infection can spread into facial planes and can cause problem. Till you visit your dentist, maintain good oral hygiene and do warm saline rinses. for more info on abscess tooth you can check this link in our website.... http://www.identalhub.com/articlecategory-abscessed-tooth-55.aspx
