Hi, Three months ago, I had a broken tooth repaired. The dentist packed my tooth with a white material. I'm not sure if he did a root canal (family friend, did it for free. Now I am having a dull deep pain that won't go away. The dentist gave me penicillin four days ago but the pain still won't go away. Does it take time for antibiotics to get rid of pain? Note: I have 40 500mg pills and have to take four a day. Thank You.

  • You have to get an xray done to find out whether root canal treatment is done or not. The antibiotics and pain killer tabs will temporaraily give relief but if the tooth is still paining then that means infection is there and you have to get the root canal treatment done. Normally antibiotics start showing affect after 3 days when level of antibiotics in blood is enough to control the infection.
