Went to the dentist yesterday for pain with a tooth that had a root canal and crown done several years ago. Monday my cheek was barely swollen woke up Tuesday and was very swollen. Dentist did x-ray found abscess, put me on amoxicillin 500 mg caps. 1000mg 1st dose then 500mg for the rest. Swelling is worse, from under the jaw and up around the bridge of my nose by my eye. Have been sleeping most of the day. Not sure if I should call the dentists office since they are now closed or wait until morning or up the dose to 1000mg until I can reach the office in the morning.

  • Dont increase the dose. Continue with the same but besides that start doing warm saling gargles and apply a heat pack on the affected side. You can take some OTC drugs containing serratiopeptidase, ibuprofen and paracetamol. Maintain a proper oral hygiene and get the treatment done as soon as possible.
