I had a root canal done in my upper left molar 10 years ago. Sometimes when chewing I have pain. It's intermittent pain. The tooth though is not sensitive to cold or hot food. What are the causes to have pain in a root canal tooth done years ago?

  • The pain can be because of the infection in the tooth or it can be because of the gum problem. Sometimes the crown wears off and the infection sets in the tooth and it causes intermittent pain in the begining. In the root canal treatment as the tooth is nonvital so one does not feel hot and cold sensation ,only the pin is there. You have to visit the dentist who will do the clinical examination and take the X-ray to find out the exact causes. If it is the infection then reroot canal is done.
