My 6 year old had a baby tooth pulled today by our dentist because the permanent tooth had already erupted behind it. During the extraction the tooth root cracked and left a small shard of root in my childs gum. The dentist didn't seem to think this was a problem. Do I need a second opinion? Will my child have to have oral surgery to remove the small shard?
The tooth root is cracked up the center, with an inverted V-shaped shard missing from the middle. Should I request xrays? How serious is this?
