I have undergone one year orthodontric treatment for the swelling of my teeth. My doctor said that soon after the brackets are removed, I have to use a permanent retention treatment, else the teeth will come back to its normal position. My question is, "Is it necessary that I should put a life long dental splint?"

  • After ortho treatment it is very important to wear the retainers. The retaines can be fixed or removable but these days fixed retainers are preferred. If you do not wear the retainers then the teeth tend to go back to the originol position. In some cases it has to be worn for life time. So discuss with your dentist and go for the retainers.
