I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed today, on a paper I got from my surgeon about my post operative care and it said I could smoke after 24 hrs. I just wanted a second professionals opinion, if I take it easy, smoke just one and do it gently, do you think I can avoid dry socket?

  • 24 hours is the minimum time but it is better if you donot smoke for atleast 48 to 72 hours as smoking causes negative pressure in mouth which an dislodge the clot and can cause the dry socket. So it is better to be careful rather than sorry afterwards. for more info on do's and dont's after tooth extraction, you read more in details..... http://www.identalhub.com/article_do's-and-don'ts-after-tooth-extraction-153.aspx
