Hello, I've had braces before when I was younger, and my teeth are relatively straight. The problem is I feel that my 2 front teeth are really big and that is all people really see when I smile. When I rub my tongue against it...it does feel like its pushed out a little, and I feel it on my bottom lip as well. Im very self conscious about it and was wondering what would be the best solution for it. I don't want to damage any enamel or gums and risk any problems when I get older.

  • Front 2 teeth are called as central incisors and are usually bigger in size as compared to other teeth. If upper front teeth are forward, then also they will appear bigger. If your front teeth are not straight and are protruding out, then you need to wear retainers to prevent protrusion of teeth.  Fixed retainers can be given which are bonded to the back portion of teeth and are not visible and will prevent outward movement of teeth.  Size of teeth can be adjusted with cosmetic procedures. Slenderizing, enameloplasty or recontouring can be done which can be used to alter shape or length of tooth by few millimeters. If there are large discrepancies present, then these methods can’t be used. Cosmetic procedures such as dental veneers or crowns can also be used to correct the size of teeth. You can visit a cosmetic dentist to adjust the size of teeth. For more info on cosmetic dental procedures, refer to…..     http://www.identalhub.com/article_all-about-cosmetic-dentistry-358.aspx
