i have an infected and/or abcessed molar (mandibular) and have increasing swelling of the tissue from the jawline on down especially the glands in my anterior neck/throat area- i am concerned because even after 4 days of antibiotic ( oral amoxicillin 500mg t.i.d) therapy the glands have continued to enlarge and are painful.

  • Lymphadenopathy secondary to dental infection is common but if after 4 days of antibiotics, it is still increasing then you have to either get it drained or if it is in relation of a tooth which can be root canal treated then you have to get the treatment started. It is very important for dental abscess to drain as infection can spread into spaces especially in lower jaw and it can cause problems. As you are already on antibiotics, schudule an appointment with your dentist, and get the necessary treatment done. for more info on abscessed tooth you can check this article on our website ..... http://www.identalhub.com/articlecategory-abscessed-tooth-55.aspx
