  • Dark lines on teeth can be there because of dental caries or can occur because of some deleterious habit like smoking, tobacco chewing, excess tea or coffee consumption or can occur because of some food stuff. Syrups containing iron can also lead to dark line on teeth. They can also be calcified deposits present on teeth which occur because of inadequate oral hygiene.  Dental caries causes no pain initially but after some time, they cause sensitivity and pain. If dark lines are caries, then they can be restored with composite material which is tooth colored, esthetic filling material. If dark lines on teeth are stains, then dental cleaning can be done to remove them. If they are because of habit of smoking or tobacco chewing, then you should quit the habit to avoid stains on teeth. If you consume excess of tea and coffee, then reduce the consumption to moderate amounts and rinse your mouth after tea or coffee consumption. If they are stains present on teeth, then maintain good oral hygiene. If dark lines are because of calcified deposits, then dental cleaning will be required.    Without clinical examination, it is difficult to give definite diagnosis. You can visit your dentist for evaluation and treatment. For more info on dental caries, refer to….   http://www.identalhub.com/article_causes-and-symptoms-of-dental-caries-229.aspx
