a 50 years old patient presented with pain of one day duration no medication upon examination relativly sound teeth on the affected side but a distal pocket at #17 upper right 2nd molar due to the mobilty grade 2 and the depth more than 4mm and the missing molars on the left side i aadviced this patient to use this tooth gently with softer diet + clorohixidine mouth wash and wait for 3 days improvment to use it for 7 days total twice daily i told him there is a high possibilty of extraction in the near future but after the 7 days ill re examine and decide to exclude false pocket and determane real or actuale pocket depth my Q is does this patient have the right to sue me calaming that i want to extract his tooth for no reson because after 10 days he came ok no pain but i worned him about recurrance but he wont listen

  • You have not really pulled the tooth ,you have only suggested that it may need pulling and in periodontal diseases if the instructios are not followed properly then the codition deteriorates and some time we have to tell the patient  about what can happen. If you have proper notes with you then i do not think there is any thing to worry. More so ever the patien came to you only after wards also and it is because of your treatment he recovered.
