Hi, my wife got a root canal and crown treatment about 1.5 years ago and it recently got infected. We asked a Dentis and they said that given the infection and that it will get infected again that they recommend getting the tooth extracted and an implant put it. The screw that was put in place after the extraction is quite large and they are saying it would take a lot of luck and skill to remove the screw, cleanse, and recrown and there would be no guarantee this would be successful. Can you please provide you recommendation? Thank you, Aaron

  • In my opinion if the dentist says that re-root canal will not be successful then you can go for extraction. Regarding screw part, It is not clear from your question whether you have already got the implant done. If you have got the implant done, whether it has also failed so that you have to get the screw removed again? Please clear the position so that I can answer you.
