Dear dentists, I'd like to show you an X-ray of my teeth: http://xs541.xs.to/xs541/09294/a_20090716_11752710.jpg as you see in the left side there's a tooth that its nerves were removed more than 10 years ago, I think there's a tooth abscess under it now as one of the dentists said, the question is, do I have to get rid of this tooth to solve the problem? is there any other ways for treatment instead of that? Thank you so much for reading my question, and I hope to hear from you soon, Best Regards, Abdulrahman Yassin

  • By seeing your xray, it is definite that you tooth has abscess. If you want to save this tooth and donot want to go for extraction then you have to go for re-treatment of root canal of the tooth in which old filling will be removed and after draining the abscess, the refilling is done. The other option is to go for Apicocetomy, which is a surgical procedure. You can discuss the options with your dentist because Xray alone cannot help in making diagnosis. Clinical examination is also necessary.
