Hi, I've been to the dentist for pain in my lower teeth 29, 30 and 31. They did a root canal on 31 and it failed so they took out 31 due to a vertical fracture. Now I still have pain in 29 and 30 around the gumline. The dentist says everything looks fine to him but I know it's not. They eventually sent me to a Nuerologist and he ruled out TN since this is a dull achy pain. They put me a on Gabapentin and it might be helping, I don't think so...I have a bad salty taste in my mouth and pain still around 29 and 30 (the teeth that hurt at the beginning). I was also sent to a Gum Specialist and he said he didn't see anything. There is a small cavity in number 30 under a filling, but the dentist seems to think that's nothing. I feel like there is an infection somewhere. Or could this be something viral. Are the dentists missing something? I'm so worried that people have actually told me to visit Mayo Clinic. Hope you can help or advise. Do you know someone at Mayo? PLEASE HELP.

  • you have not mentioned when you go the 31 removed. The pain in 29 & 30 can be because of healing of the wound when you got 31 pulled out but this can be upto 3 weeks of extraction. As you have mentioned that you donot have TN and no gum problem then you can get the filling of 30 checked as sometimes from outside cavity looks small but because of some seepage it gets infected, if it is so then get the refilling done or you can just ignore every thing and do warm saline rinses 3-4 times day for a week to 10 days and if there is mild gum infection it will take care of that.
