  • Denture adhesives can be given to provide retention, stability, biting force to denture bases. Denture adhesives also provide sense of security to an individual. Denture adhesives can be used by patients with dry mouth or in elderly. If dentures are ill-fitting, then denture adhesive should not be used and instead relining and re-basing of dentures is done. You can chose a denture adhesive after consultation of your dentist or buy OTC denture adhesive from pharmacy. Denture adhesives are available in powder form or in paste form. You can choose any of them. Don’t get addicted to denture adhesives.  You can’t use chewing gum to provide retention to the denture base. Chewing gum on denture base can damage the denture base. For dentures to last long, it is important to take care of dentures. Clean dentures after every meal and before sleeping, put them in jar of cold water and have regular dental check ups.
