..gingivitis ! dentist says my x rays are good , teeth are fine. But hygenist found 4 s and 5 s when probing the gums . she wants to do anti biotic treatment- expenesive ! my queston is - if I floss well and faithfully for a month , will my gum numbers decrease to 3 and under ? -- or should I bite the bullet and get the antibiotic treatment ?

  • If it is gingivitis and the X-ray is fine and there is no bone loss or deep pockets then in my opinion if you maintai good oral hygeine and do flossing regularly then your score can come down. It is bit difficult to say any thing without seeing the case clinicaly and the X-rays but you can try for a month  if it does not improve then you can get the antibiotic treatent or you can have second opinon. for more on gum diseases you can browse our web site.
