I am having alot of pain in my ear and jaw. I went to my family doctor and said it must be my teeth ,so I went to the dentist and they did full mouth xrays and said that area looked fine but that i needed 3 other teeth filled on the top so I had that done. Now not only is my ear and jaw still causing me extreme pain 2 of the teeth they filled also are tingling and aching. My dentist gave me antibiotics and steriods and that did not help. Then he just told me he has no other ideas. Tylenol and Ibuprofen also are no help. I went to another dentist and he took xrays and he also can not find any problems with that bottom tooth but the pain is extreme and and almost unbearable at times. We have no dental insurance and live in a small town so my resources are limited. Do you have any suggestions what might be wrong? Or how i go about finding a dentist that will be able to help me figure this out?

  • If the pain in your ear and jaw is becauseof teeth then you must be having some badly decayed or infected tooth and that can be easily diagnosed by clinical examination and a pano. But your dentist is not able to see anything wrong in your teeth. The other cause of the jaw pain can be due to infection in TMJ area but it is rare and there is difficulty in eating and swelling is there in TMJ area, which does not look like in your case. It cannot be because of grinding of teeth as in that the muscles are sore and pain is there in both TMJ joints and it is in the morning when you wake up. It seems that in your case the pain can be due to some ear infection and you can show it to your family doctor once again.
