I had an infected molar (the last one in the back of my left side) that needed to come out. The doctor pulled the tooth today and says I need an implant in that space. He says the top molar above the missing tooth will begin to drop, and eventually fallout if it doesn't have anything to touch. Is this true, do I really need it? I've seen other people with missing teeth and their corresponding top teeth seem ok.

  • If the tooth which is pulled out is the wisdom tooth then there is no need to get the implant as these teeth are of no value though it is true that the corresponding upper tooth tends to come down and eventually has to be extracted. But if it is not the wisdom tooth then you should get it replaced and get the implant. as the molars are needed for proper mastication of food and one can not afford to loose them.
