I am a 39 year old male that smoked for around 12 years. I got my both of my bottom wisdom teeth pulled out last fall. It took awhile to heal but when it did I had pockets behind my rear molars that continued to hurt after healing. This past spring the left side started to hurt a little and the pain would come & go. Shortly after that started I started having a strange sensation on the left side of my tongue, sort of a dull pain that comes & goes. Then I noticed I had a small bump between my lower front teeth & my molars on the ridgeline where the bottom of my gums meets the soft tissue of the floor of my mouth. It hurts a little and I sometimes get a dull pain in my jaw. I'm making an appointment with my dentist this week. I'm just wondering what you think this could be? Thank you.

  • It is very difficult to say without seeing the case clinically. Mostly bump in this region is because of some sharp tooth or the infected tooth which keeps irritating the tongue . It explains the pain some times. This area also has te openings of the salivary glands and if they get blocked even then you feel the same symptoms. As i said it is difficult to give the correct diagnosis with out seeing the case but these can be the possibilties. You should visit the dentist .
