Hi, I've been told by my dentist i need to get a root canal on one of my top molars. I've also been told by the oral surgeon in the same office that i need to get all four of my wisdom teeth out. Given all my wisdom teeth are 3/4 erupted, vertically, wouldn't it be logical to remove the tooth that needs a root canal to make room for the wisdom tooth to come through, obviously i'd need to go to an orthodontist to ensure they come in line with the rest of the teeth, but given i do that, would that be the more logical approach. why take out 4 perfectly good teeth and work one one where the nerve is already dead! looking forward to hearing your response. thanks.

  • In your case as you are saying that wisdom teeth are already 3/4 erupted, so it will be difficult to move the wisdom tooth in the place of 2nd molar. So it is better to get the Root Canal Treatment done to save the 2nd molar and to decide whether the removal of wisdom tooth is required depends upon availability of space. This can be decided only after examination and xrays.
