my left front tooth was recently knocked out and i put it back in within 5-10 minutes of it falling out after about three days of the incident i went to my local dentist, who told me it should be fine prescribed me darvocets and antibiotics that i took for about a week and a half but now i have formed and abscess its not huge and i don't feel any pain in my tooth i just need to know is it mandatory to have a root canal or is there hope for me yet?

  • This procedure of putting back the tooth in the socket is called reimplantation. Normally, if the tooth is reimplanted within 30 minutes of knocking out, the progronosis is very good and tooth normally survives. But as there is trauma, the root canal becomes sort of mandatory. In your case, if abscess has formed, that means the pulp of tooth has become infected and you have to go for root canal treatment if you really want to save the tooth.
