Have a molar tooth that has silver filling from many years ago. Medium size. There is a crack (a line down to the gum). Area has been little sensitive to cold liquid. Dentist said that the only option is to get a crown. Said that a composite filling will not hold the tooth together because of the size of the crack and the size of the filling. Is this indeed the only option tha I have or can it be fixed with a composite filling?

  •  If you have a filling  with a crack then the best option is to go for the crown as the crown will hold the tooth together and it will be durable. if you opt for composite, though it is cheap and less time consuming but it is not durable and chances are there that the tooth fractures further . So go for crown. If you want to know more about the cracked tooth syndrome then you can visit the following link on our website.......http://www.identalhub.com/articlecategory-cracked-tooth-56.aspx
