I'm getting 2 implants and a bridge replacing teeth 7 through 10. I'd like to know the best way to clean under the bridge and around implants. Should i clean after every meal or twice a day am/pm is sufficient? If a threader or superfloss not available, is rinsing with mouthwash ok? Is water pik recommended for bridges and implants? Proxabrush has metal wire that holds bristles. I won't use it and they are expensive. Why do dentists tell me to use it with implants? When i had my teeth and a fixed bridge, i flossed under the bridge only once a week. Food did not get stuck and it lasted 19 years. #7 had root canal tx and fractured. So now it will be replaced with an implant. I already have implants in the posterior and when asked a hygienist if i should clean more frequently than every 6 months the answer was no. thank you.

  • When you have implants and bridges then you have to maintain very good oral hyg. You can brush twice but it should be thorough and inbetween. You can use mouth wash or do rinsing with warm saline water. You have to floss regularly as the mouth wash cannot replace the flossing. Though proxa bush is expensive but is good as it can clean in between the teeth. Even with implants and bridges, 6 monthly checkup is enough if you are not having any problem like pain or bleeding gums.
