Hi there. I just got my teeth taken out and the dentist didnt say much after except handing over a packet of cottonwool. so i have a few questions if you don't mind. Is using Listerine after having teeth taken out, bad? Can you smoke/drink alcohol after getting your teeth pulled?

  • if it is normal extraction then you can remove the cotton pack after one hour and there is no need to replace it. after that you can take some thing clod like fruit juice or the ice cream. you should not take any areated drink and should not use the straw. it can dislodge the clot. if you want to use the mouthwash it is better avoided for at least 24 hours. regarding smoking .you should not smoke at least for 48 hours after extraction and alcohol should not be consumed till you are taking pain killers. all these things are crucial for the dislodgement of the clot. if it dislodges from the extraction site then you can have dry socket which is a pain ful condition. if you want to know in detail about what should be done after extraction and what should be avoided then you can read this article on our web site......http://www.identalhub.com/article_do's-and-don'ts-after-tooth-extraction-153.aspx
