Yesterday dentist attempted to cast for partial dentures (both upper and lower). After the appropriate setting time the upper could not be removed! It took approx. 30 min., with much effort from him and resulting in my mouth being raw and bruised on the outside and swollen lips. The lower cast the same problem and he ended up cutting out the custom mold to remove!!! He said it was space between existing teeth that caused too much suction. What went wrong? Was the compound he used not mixed properly? Have you ever heard of this happening? The worst dental exp. in my long life. He wants to use a wax coating on existing teeth and try lower again in two weeks after my bruising and TMJ has calmed down. What are your thoughts on this? Thank you

  • You have not mentioned the material used for taking the impressions for partial deture.normally this never happens. the materials used in the mouth to take the impressions have enogh elasticity to come out even if there are undercuts in the existing teeth. i have never experienced or heard such sort of problem. you can take the second opinion if you are not comfortable. if you want to know more about the dentures you can visit the following link on our website.........
