Well I got ALL for of my teeth pulled exactly 2 weeks ago. The upper right tooth was pulled but left a hole to my nasel passage, my dentist is gonna have me go in, in a month and if it hasn't closed he's gonna stitch it closed. Well my real question here is that from that empty socket I have a REALLY bad smell coming from it, and it takes horrible. Could this be from the hole or could it be something worse? I clean my mouth out with salt water everyday as well as a bit of Listerine. I use the serenge they gave me has well to make sure no food is stuck. I just dont understand what the smell is? Also there is a dull pain along with it but Ibuprofen helps that. Please help me

  • The horrible smell in your mouth is due extraction socket. Basically you have a Oronasal perforation which opens into nasal sinus and till it heals, the nasal discharge comes and causes the smell. You dentist is right in saying that in case it does not heal, he will suture it. It takes time for it to heal and once it heals, the smell will go. Till then you maintain good oral hyg and if pain is there, you can have ibruprofen.
